At first glance, our namesake Guggy may seem like an ordinary woman with a funny-sounding nickname. 

Look a little closer, and you’ll discover a friend, wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother — like so many of us. A woman whose fierce love, loyalty, and determination to find the best in everyone and everything know no limits.

Guggy believes you can't take care of business “without your makeup on.” She hasn’t missed a Forrester fashion show in forty years — and doesn’t plan to anytime soon. She hosts elaborate parties, can run a mean bead of caulk and maintains a magazine-worthy yard. She keeps Chanel perfume and a screwdriver in her truck just in case. She believes in putting your best face forward, being polite to strangers, always finding forgiveness for others — and when all else fails, LAUGH… maybe even when you shouldn’t.

Always a woman of grit and gumption, there were times Guggy worked three jobs to make sure she had a little extra when her girls asked for Lisa Frank Trapper Keepers. She’s a successful entrepreneur many times over, always searching for the next place to leave her mark. While she remains open to the adventure of reinvention, she stays rooted in her life’s greatest passions: faith and family.

Her name was born many years ago on the lips of a precious granddaughter — the same granddaughter she has fiercely loved and advocated for. She never misses an opportunity to remind her (and everyone else) that she’s Guggy’s BFF.

Our Guggy has spent a lifetime showing us, through her lived example, that anything in life worth doing is worth doing with an undeniable passion and panache.

And when doubt creeps in, she’ll remind you sharply that“Caint Never Could.”

This is why our store bears her name. We honor her past, celebrate her present, and hope for her future. Guggy isn’t just an odd sounding name for a grandma — it represents the very best parts of life in our family.
